Maryville and Southern Indiana battled for 62 minutes until USI's Julia Kohnen finally registered the game's only goal for a 1-0 victory. The Saints are now 3-10-1 on the season, 3-8-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Southern Indiana ups its mark to 6-6-2 overall, 6-4-1 in the league.
The Saints had two early scoring chances to grab the early lead. Alex Reis rattled a shot off the crossbar in the seventh minute of play, and Cydney Robertson tested USI keeper Stephanie Bodamer who made a diving save in the first half. The teams combined to put 11 shots on goal, and MU goalie Jena Casagrande recorded five saves to keep Southern Indiana off the board.
In the second half, USI would score the only tally of the game. Mckenzie Brinker dribbled up the right side of the field, and Kohnen slid the ball into the net for a 1-0 Southern Indiana lead. The Saints put four shots on goal in the second half but were unable to level the score.
