Women's Soccer Rallies Past Kentucky Wesleyan 2-1

Cydney Robertson's goal in the 83rd minute rallied the Maryville women's team past Kentucky Wesleyan 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Panthers struck first in the 11th minute when Paige Kramer scored for KWC. The Saints pressed forward in the first half but were unable to net the equalizer. Maryville put four shots on goal but the Panther defense held on for a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The Saints honored their four seniors during a Senior Day ceremony, and it boosted the MU attack in the second half. Maryville kept up the pressure and worked hard for a corner kick. Robertson's pass found senior Sarah Griggs who collected the ball and slid it into the KWC net to knot the contest 1-1 at the 69:18 mark. The Saints, who generated six shots on goal, kept up the pressure and broke through to complete the comeback. Goalie Mandy Browning's long kick found Alex Reis along the left sideline. Reis dribbled up field, deftly slid the ball across the top of the penalty area, and Robertson did not miss to put the Saints on top 2-1.

Maryville's defense denied the Panthers in the waning moments as the Saints upped their record to 4-10-1, 4-8 in the GLVC. Kentucky Wesleyan slips to 1-11 overall and in the conference.
