Volleyball Hosts Three Matches in Four Days Starting with Missouri Baptist

THIS WEEK:
The Saints have a busy week as they begin a three-game homestand Thursday, Oct. 18, when they host Missouri Baptist for a 7 p.m. match. Maryville takes on Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. and the match will be a “Think Pink” night. Maryville closes the weekend versus Southern Indiana Sunday, Oct. 21 in a 1 p.m. start.
           
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
Mikaela Lahm leads the Saints (3-18, 1-8 GLVC) with 193 kills and 47 blocks. Hana Michael is second on the squad with 147 kills mark along with a team-best 207 digs, and Laura Welling has topped the 100-kills plateau with 109. Taryn Trubich has directed the offense and sits on 372 assists. Hannah Seitter has posted 192 digs to rank second on the team.
 
ABOUT MISSOURI BAPTIST:
The Spartans are 26-1 and ranked No. 15 in the NAIA this week. After having its 22-game winning streak end, MBU has won four straight matches. Maddy Hammack leads the team with 363 kills, with Taylor Cook second with 246 kills. Madeline Nesbit leads the team with 49 blocks, while setter Ally Krus has handed out 921 assists. The Spartans rank 16th in the NAIA with 1,282 kills.
 
ABOUT KENTUCKY WESLEYAN:
The Panthers are 9-14 overall, 2-7 in the GLVC and have won their last two matches. Bridget Johnson leads the team with 213 kills, and Mary Beth Ryan has 63 blocks. Morgan Watson leads the defense with 318 digs, while Linda Albrecht comes into the match with 638 assists.
 
ABOUT SOUTHERN INDIANA:
The Screaming Eagles are 10-11 overall, 7-2 in the league. Lauren DeShaney tops the attack with 195 kills, and Fawn Ryan is second with 186. Abbey Winter is fourth in the conference in blocking at 1.12 per set. Emily Meyer ranks second in the league with 0.43 aces per set.

DIG DEEP:
In the match against Walsh, Jamie Kloss finished with 32 digs, the most in a match since Oct. 2, 2009, when Samantha Bock recorded 37. Kloss' 32 digs are tied for the fifth-highest total in program history.

LAST WEEK:
The Saints helped the Great Lakes Valley Conference claim the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament 28-20. After getting edged by Walsh in a five-setter, Maryville swept Lake Erie before tripping up against Tiffin.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
Maryville heads back out on the road with a tilt at Missouri S&T Oct. 26, and then head to Springfield, Mo., to face Drury Oct. 27.
