THIS WEEK:
The Maryville women’s soccer team plays at Quincy Friday, Oct. 19, before coming home for Senior Day Sunday, Oct. 21, against Illinois Springfield starting at Noon. Seniors Tomi Benney, Jena Casagrande, Bianca Holloway, Sam Poteet and Kristin Scherer will be recognized at halftime of the UIS game.
 
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
The Saints stand at 3-8-4, 2-6-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Sam Poteet sits atop the team’s leaderboard four goals, while Jen Jung has registered three goals. Hana McGinis has a team-leading four assists. Jena Casagrande ranks fifth in the conference with a 0.79 GAA and is third with a .865 save percentage. She has made 45 saves en route to posting four shutouts.
                          
ABOUT QUINCY:
The Hawks have won three straight and are 11-2-1 overall, 9-2 in the GLVC. Brittany Casey has hammered in 10 goals to rank second in the league, and Ashley Burton is second on the team with nine goals. Jaclyn Mastroianni has a team-high six assists. Jodi Chapie has seven of the team’s wins with a 0.82 GAA, while Tori Champagne has four wins and a 0.67 GAA. Quincy ranks second in the league with 2.50 goals per game.
 
ABOUT ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD:
The Prairie Starts stand at 3-10-1 overall, 2-10 in the conference. Erin Egolf leads UIS with six goals and three assists for 15 points. Paige Polonus has played every minute in goal and has posted a 1.40 GAA and made 70 saves.
 
RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
Sam Poteet scored the game winner and Shannon Foley tacked on an insurance goal as the Saints defeated Saint Joseph’s 4-2 last Friday. Jen Jung and Cydney Robertson also scored for Maryville. The Saints looked to sweep both road games but fell 3-0 at Indianapolis.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Saints close out the season Wednesday, Oct. 24, as they make the short trip to Missouri St. Louis for a 5 p.m. start.
