Saints “Think Pink” for Wisconsin-Parkside; Host Lewis Flyers Sunday

THIS WEEK:
The Saints host their annual “Think Pink” game Friday, Oct. 5, when they host Wisconsin-Parkside for a 3:30 p.m. game. Maryville will be wearing its pink kits to raise awareness about breast cancer. Maryville ends the weekend with a Noon game Sunday, Oct. 7, as Lewis comes to St. Louis.
                  
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
The Saints stand at 2-6-3, 1-4-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Sam Poteet has a team-high three goals, while Jen Jung has found the back of the net twice. Hana McGinis has a team-high three assists. Jena Casagrande ranks second in the GLVC with a 0.60 GAA and has made 27 saves en route to posting three shutouts.
 
SHUTTING EM OUT:
Goalie Jena Casagrande ran her scoreless streak in the nets to 399 minutes before finally surrendering a tally to Drury in the 48th minute of play. Prior to that, the last goal she gave up was in the 68th minute of play at Kentucky Wesleyan. In between, she held both McKendree and No. 19 Rockhurst without a goal for 110 minutes apiece and kept the Miners off the scoreboard in the first half.
 
ABOUT WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE:
The Rangers have won three straight and tote a 6-3-1 overall mark, 5-3 in the GLVC to town. Kelsey Armour and Emily Konior both have tallied eight goals apiece to pace the team. Michelle Girard has started all 10 games in goal and has a 1.01 GAA with 37 saves.
 
ABOUT LEWIS:
The Flyers had a three-game winning streak snapped in their last outing but are an impressive 7-3 overall, 5-3 in the league. Jessica Saffell leads the team with seven goals and one assist for 15 points, and Lauren Bowles adds four goals and two assists for 10 points. Arianna Nie has started eight games at goalie and has a 1.36 GAA.
 
RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
At Drury Friday, the Saints played their fourth straight overtime game and earned a 0-0 tie. Maryville battled at Missouri S&T but the Miners scored early in the second half and the Saints missed a kick from the spot as the Miners hung on for a 1-0 win.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
Maryville takes a trip to Indiana for two contests. The Saints are at Saint Joseph’s Friday, Oct. 12, then head to Indianapolis to challenge the Greyhounds Sunday, Oct. 14.
