Women’s Soccer Closes Season at Missouri-St. Louis

THIS WEEK:
The Maryville women’s soccer team closes out the 2012 season Wednesday, Oct. 24, as they make the short trip to Missouri St. Louis for a 5 p.m. start.
 
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
The Saints stand at 4-9-4, 3-7-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Sam Poteet has scored five goals to pace the team, and Shannon Foley has tied Poteet with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Hana McGinis has a team-leading five assists, which is tied for eighth in the GLVC. Jena Casagrande has a 1.03 GAA to go along with a .825 save percentage. She has made 47 saves en route to posting four shutouts.
 
ABOUT MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS:
The Tritons are 3-11-2 overall, 3-10-1 in the conference. Brittany Harbaugh tops UMSL with four goals and one assist for nine points, and Kali Thomas has amassed three goals and two assists. In the nets, Kaitlyn Smugala has played every minute and sports a 2.48 GAA and has made 84 saves.  
 
RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
Shannon Foley put the Saints on top early against Quincy before the regionally-ranked Hawks rallied for a 2-1 win. In the home finale, Maryville burst for five goals, the most since Sept. 2009, en route to a 5-4 victory over Illinois Springfield. Katy Rood finished with two goals, and Foley recorded the game-winning goal and two assists.
