Volleyball Plays Three Road Tilts Starting at UMSL Tuesday

THIS WEEK:
The Maryville volleyball squad closes out a stretch of road matches with three contests this week. The Saints play at Missouri-St. Louis Tuesday in a 7 p.m. start at the Mark Twain Building. Maryville heads to Illinois Springfield for a 7 p.m. match Friday, Nov. 2, and then voyages to face Quincy, in a 3 p.m. match Saturday, Nov. 3.
           
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
Mikaela Lahm leads the Saints (4-22, 2-11 GLVC) with 230 kills and 61 blocks. Hana Michael ranks second on the squad and is closing in on 200 kills with 185, along with a team-high 263 digs. Laura Welling is third on the squad in kills with 142. Taryn Trubich needs 16 more assists to reach 500 for the season. Jamie Kloss is second on the team with 222 digs, and Hannah Seitter has 221.
 
ABOUT MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS:
The Tritons are 10-15, 7-6 in the GLVC and defeated the Saints in three close sets at Moloney Arena earlier this year. Liz Jaeger tops UMSL with 294 kills, and Chelsea Burkle has 210 kills. Lindsay Meyer has amassed 643 assists to lead the offense. Jennie Manis has a team-high 438 digs, and Jessica Ploss tops the team with 60 blocks.
 
ABOUT ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD:
The Prairie Stars are 9-16 overall, 1-12 in the GLVC. Kellee Mafaffay has a team-high 236 kills, and Ann Nottingham is second on the squad with 203 kills. Setter Rebeka Pruemer has distributed 640 assists, while Ashley King tops the team with 219 digs. The Prairie Stars rallied to win in five sets earlier this year in St. Louis.
 
ABOUT QUINCY:
The Hawks bring a 12-12 overall record, 5-8 in the GLVC into the match. Briann Joslin leads QU with 242 kills and is hitting .270 on the year to go along with 87 blocks. Samantha Haegele is second with 163 kills, 249 digs and tops the GLVC in aces per set at 0.49. Sommer Holder tops the Hawks with 288 digs. QU tops the league with 1.80 aces per set. Quincy edged the Saints earlier this season in St. Louis in a five setter.
 
LAST WEEK:
The Saints battled at West Division leader Missouri S&T but the Miners prevailed in three sets Friday. In a match at Drury, the Saints had chances to win every set but the Panthers won in three straight sets.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Saints close out the season with two home contests. Maryville hosts Rockhurst Friday, Nov. 9, for a 6 p.m. match, then welcome William Jewell for a 7:30 p.m. match Saturday, Nov. 10.
