The Maryville women’s basketball team (2-3), the reigning Great Lakes Valley Conference champion, faces Principia College Tuesday, Dec. 4, in a 6 p.m. start in Moloney Arena. The Saints travel to the University of Missouri-St. Louis to begin GLVC play Wednesday, Dec. 5, in a 5:15 p.m. start.
ABOUT PRINCIPIA
The Panthers are 1-3 and coming off a narrow 73-72 loss to St. Mary’s. Sarah Corbitt leads the team with 21.5 ppg, 16 steals and adds 6.5 rpg. Karina Olsen tops the squad with 10.3 rpg, and Decca DeNicholas has compiled 13 assists.
ABOUT MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS
The Tritons are off to a 3-1 start under the direction of new coach Katie Vaughn. Hazaria Washington averages 14 ppg and 9.5 rpg to pace the Tritons. Angela Johnson adds 9.3 ppg, while Kelly McGovern contributes eight ppg and has a team-high 16 assists. The Maryville Spirit and Dance squads are sponsoring a free van trip for all students. Rides will leave the Maryville campus at 4 p.m. All signed up students will receive a free ride, free admission and a free “Beat UMSL” tee-shirt.
LAST TIME OUT
The Saints defense held Benedictine without a point for more than 11 minutes as Maryville recorded an 81-29 win last Friday.
Erica Lorton led the Saints with 11 points and seven rebounds. Maryville forced the Bulldogs into shooting just 20.6 percent from the field.

FRESH FACES
The Saints have added two veterans to the mix this season. Joining the team are Division I transfers
Kayla Person and
Brittnye McSparron. The duo comes to Maryville from Drake University and both are senior guards.

CLIMBING THE SCORING CHART
Senior forward Abby Duethman has moved into second place on the Saints all-time scoring list with 1,205 points. Topping the scoring chart is Heather Toma with 1,329 points.
CLEANING THE GLASS
Abby Duethman has moved into seventh place on the all-time rebounding list with 473. She can become just the fourth Saint to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds in a career. The only other Saints to reach those milestones are Julie Kellogg, Kim Lesley and Carrie Snyder.
GOING TO THE POLLS
In the preseason Division II Bulletin top 25 poll, the Saints were ranked No. 19. Maryville also received 38 votes in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches’ preseason poll. The last time the Saints were ranked in any poll was week 13 of the 2005-06 season in the D3hoops.com poll when it was ranked No. 19.
