Hana McGinis and slotted in the game winner in overtime to push the Maryville women’s soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Concordia (Minn.) in the first game of the Peacock Classic hosted by Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.
Sam Poteet put the Saints on top in the fifth minute when she scored after Maryville had earned a corner kick. Midway through the first half, Concordia knotted the game on a tally by Amanda Olsen. In the extra session, the Saints jolted Concordia with a tally just 2:04 into overtime. McGinis passed the ball over to Reis who calmly pushed the ball into the right side of the net for the winner.
The Saints take on host Upper Iowa Saturday afternoon in a 4:30 p.m. game.
