Volleyball Takes on UMSL Prior to Road Swing

THIS WEEK:
Maryville’s volleyball team welcomes intra-city rival Missouri-St. Louis to Moloney Arena Tuesday, Sept. 18, for a 7 p.m. contest to close out a three-game homestand. The Saints then hit the road for two more Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups. Maryville is at William Jewell Friday, Sept. 21, then plays at Rockhurst Saturday, Sept. 22.
                                                                  
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
Mikaela Lahm leads the Saints (1-10, 0-2 GLVC) with 101 kills and 24 blocks. Taryn Trubich tops the team with 157 assists, while Megan Baumgartner has handed out 121 assists. Hana Michael went over the 100 digs plateau with 107 and has served up nine service aces.
 
ABOUT UMSL:
The Tritons are 3-7 overall, 2-0 in the GLVC. Liz Jaeger has a team-high 88 kills and is tied for the team lead with 10 aces. Linday Meyer has distributed 196 assists, and Jennie Manis tops UMSL with 136 digs.
 
ABOUT WILLIAM JEWELL:
The Cardinals are 2-4 overall, 0-2 in the league. Hannah Herndon has amassed 127 kills to go along with 14 aces. Cailynn Hayter has notched 216 assists to lead the offense, and Katie Damgar has 216 digs to lead the league. Christina Pratt is one of the conference’s best blockers with 38.
 
ABOUT ROCKHURST:
The Hawks have stormed out to an 8-2 start and are 1-1 in the conference. Emily Ready leads the GLVC in hitting percentage at .368, Katie Loescher has 108 kills on the season and Whitney Kostal has 332 assists thus far. Kelsey Stratman leads the blockers with 42 to rank third in the league. The Hawks lead the GLVC in blocks per set at 2.56.
 
LAST WEEK:
The Saints dropped consecutive five-set heartbreakers at home to Quincy and Illinois Springfield. Hana Micheal led Maryville with 15 kills against the Hawks, while Mikaela Lahm set a career high with 23 kills against UIS
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
Drury invades Moloney Arena Friday, Sept. 28, for a 5 p.m. match, and the Saints welcome Missouri S&T Saturday, Sept. 29, in a 3 p.m. contest.
