The Saints earned the first corner kick of the outing but could not generate a good scoring chance. Midway through the first half,
Katy Rood tested Rockhurst keeper Lucy Sullivan but the score was still tied 0-0. In the 34th minute, the Hawks nearly grabbed the lead when a shot by Caroline Brandt was saved off the line by Maryville defender
Kristin Scherer.
Rockhurst’s Brandt tested Casagrande, but the Maryville keeper turned the shot away to keep the game scoreless.
Hana McGinis put a shot on goal from the left wing, and
Jen Jung hammered a shot from the top of the penalty area but both attempts were saved.
Neither team generated a strong scoring change in overtime, and Jung’s attempt in the waning moments sailed wide as the Saints saw their record move to 2-5-2 overall, 1-3-2.
