Shannon Foley tied the women's soccer game at Rockhurst, but the Hawks scored in the 76th minute to post a 2-1 victory over Maryville Friday night in Kansas City, Mo.
Rockhurst struck first when Kristin Wolff scored on a deflection at the 18:22 mark. The Saints had their best scoring chance in the final moments of the first half, but
Mandy Rood's shot was saved by Rockhurst keeper Caitlin Winschel.
In the second half,
Hana McGinis had a hard shot but was kept out of the Rockhurst net. The Saints finally drew level when
Amanda Wiechens pushed a pass to Foley, who tucked the ball into the net just inside the right post at the the 57-minute mark. Maryville kept up the pressure and nearly took the lead on a Wiechens shot. The Hawks scored the winner when Wolff struck again from the middle of the box for the decisive goal.
Maryville is back in action Sunday at it heads to Liberty, Mo., to face William Jewell.Â
