The Maryville women's soccer team received three goals from three players all scoring for the first time this season to key a 3-1 win over Illinois Springfield. The win is the second straight for the Saints who have recorded seven goals in their last two games, the most since Oct. 22 and Oct. 25, 2008, when they found the back of the next 13 times.

UIS nearly took the lead in the 39th minute but Saints goalie
Mandy Browning came up with the save. Maryville pushed the ball back up the field, and
Sam Kruse lofted a pass into the middle of the UIS penalty area.
Danielle Schmitz ran onto the ball and headed it inside the far post for a 1-0 Saints lead at the 39:39 mark. However the lead was short lived as UIS pulled even when Kim Tokarski scored 90 seconds before halftime for a 1-1 deadlock.
Â
The Saints pressed forward looking to retake the lead, and
Shannon Foley's blast two minutes into the second half nearly broke the tie. However, Maryville was successful in the 61st minute. The Saints drew a foul and Kruse stepped up to take the free kick. She launched a high, curling shot that flew over the UIS keeper but just underneath the crossbar for an outstanding goal and 2-1 Saints lead.
Â
Maryville put the game away six minutes later on a scramble off a corner kick. At the 66:09 mark, the corner pass found
Nadia Abu-Douleh who flicked the ball to
Kayla Torry and slid the shot past the UIS keeper for the final 3-1 margin.
Â
The Saints up their record to 2-11-1 overall, 2-9-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while UIS is 3-12 overall, 1-11 in the league. Maryville heads onto the road for a final road trip as they play at Bellarmine Friday afternoon.
