Amanda Wiechens tallied with just over five minutes remaining in the game to push the Maryville women's soccer team to a dramatic 3-2 victory over city-rival Missouri-St. Louis in the regular-season finale for both teams. The win enabled the Saints to end the year with a three-game home winning streak.

The visiting Tritons jumped on top when Hanna Kaloupek scored on a header off a corner kick 8:57 into the game. Hana McGinis equalized for the Saints in the 16th minute of play. Katie Mertz slid her the ball in traffic, and McGinis pushed the ball into the net, her first goal of the season, to forge a 1-1 tie.

Just 28 seconds after halftime, Shannon Foley put the Saints ahead. McGinis sprinted down the right side and lofted a cross over to Foley who one-timed a volley into the left side of the UMSL net for a 2-1 Maryville lead. Less than 10 minutes later, the Tritons scored to forge another tie. Kali Thomas collected a long crossing pass and tapped it in at the 54:02 mark.

Both teams had chances to jump ahead but the defenses kept the game tied until the late dramatics by the Saints. Danielle Schmitz dribbled the ball into the left corner and hit a low-arcing cross to Wiechens, who sprinted onto the ball and drilled it into the UMSL net at the 84:43 mark for the game winner. Wiechens and Foley tied for the team scoring lead with seven goals apiece this season.

The Saints finish the season with a 3-13-1 record overall, 3-11-1 in the GLVC. The Tritons fall to 4-11-2 overall, 2-11-2 in the conference.
