After a scoreless first half, the visiting Miners jumped on top with a score by Kelsey Salzman at the 49:43 mark. The Saints pressed for the game-tying goal, Foley's work rate paid off in the 56th minute. She settled a pass on the left side of the Missouri S&T penalty area, spun around her defender and was pulled down. The referee pointed to the penalty spot, and Foley calmly tucked the ball inside the left post to draw the Saints level 1-1. However, the Miners stuck just 43 seconds later to retake the lead. Sarah Hostler headed in a pass for what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

Katy Rood hit a low shot from near the top of the penalty area but her shot was saved by Miner's keeper Madison Gibler.
Hana McGinis came up with a turnover on the right side of the Missouri S&T defense but her long shot just trickled wide of the net. Maryville's final chance came when Foley lofted a shot on goal but was kept out to preserve the one-goal edge.
