Box Score Indianapolis boxscore in PDF

The Maryville volleyball team jumped on Indianapolis by taking the first set but the Greyhounds rallied to post a 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory Saturday evening in Moloney Arena. Indianapolis won by set scores of 24-26, 25-13, 25-7, 25-20. The Saints are back in action Sunday as they host Saint Joseph's for a 1 p.m. contest.

The first set featured 10 ties and five lead changes before the Saints edged out the win. With the score deadlocked at 24-24, Hana Michael's kill pushed the Saints to set point. Indianapolis had a swing to tie the set but it was long for an error as the Saints took the 26-24 lead. Maryville hit .244 in the opening set while holding the Greyhounds to just a .128 mark.

Laura Welling had a kill to pull Maryville to 10-7 in set two. The Greyhounds scored nine of the next 11 points and slowly pulled away to even the match. Kenzie Bruggeman's service game helped Indianapolis score eight straight points midway through set three to take control.

In the fourth set, the Greyhounds used a quick 4-0 run and built a 13-7 margin. Back-to-back kills by Welling and a tip shot by Taryn Trubich pulled the Saints to 14-10. UIndy stretched its cushion back to 19-11 before Maryville had one more rally. Samantha Callahan and Mikaela Lahm had a block to ignite four consecutive points capped by a Greyhounds hitting error as the Saints cut the gap to 19-15. Indianapolis reached match point at 24-17 but the Saints battled on. Jordan McKinley had a call, and Welling and Grace Balcerak followed as Maryville pulled to within four. Indianapolis finally ended the match with a kill.

For the Saints (8-10, 1-11 GLVC) Welling led the way with 12 kills, and Ali Lampen added 20 digs. Kenzie Bruggeman led Indianapolis (15-9, 9-3 GLVC) with a double-double on 13 kills and 17 digs, while Brittany Anglemyer had 15 kills while hitting .652.
