The Maryville baseball team jumped out to an early lead at Pittsburg State but the Gorillas scored in five straight innings to sweep a two-game series. The Saints were ahead 5-0 but Pittsburg State rallied for a 16-5 victory.
 
In the top of the first, Colby White singled, and Tyler Omlid doubled him in for the first score of the game. Eric Keling followed with an RBI single for a quick 2-0. In the second inning, the Saints struck again for a two-out rally. Corey Gall doubled and Jared Green drew a walk. White tripled as the Saints doubled their lead to 4-0. Omlid delivered again with an RBI single for a 5-0 advantage.
 
The Gorillas answered with two runs in the bottom of the second on three hits, including two for extra bases, to cut into the Maryville lead. Pittsburg State tacked on a run in the third to close to 5-3, and tied the game in the fourth by manufacturing two runs. PSU jumped into the lead with a three-run homer and eased to the win.
 
White paced the Saints with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Keling also recorded three hits, and Omlid drove in two runs.
