Baseball Adds Gregory, Hovey to Coaching Staff

ST. LOUIS – Maryville baseball head coach Pat Evers announces two additions to his 2027 coaching staff. Ben Gregory, a former Maryville Saint and NCAA DI starting pitcher, will join the staff as a pitching coach. Also joining is Jordan Hovey who will take over as the infield and hitting coach.

Gregory enjoyed a standout career as a Saint, making 38 starts on the mound and finishing tied for the program's all-time wins record. He earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2025 and received his bachelor's degree in Sport Business Management from Maryville that same year.

Following his Maryville career, Gregory completed his final season of collegiate eligibility as a graduate transfer at the University of Minnesota. He then continued his playing career professionally after signing with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League, where he competed for one season.

A native of Granger, Indiana, Gregory brings a wealth of experience as a former Maryville student-athlete, NCAA Division I graduate transfer and professional pitcher to his role with the Saints.

Hovey brings extensive collegiate, professional and coaching experience to the Maryville program. Prior to joining the Saints, Hovey spent two seasons on the coaching staff at Creighton University, where he contributed to player development and the Bluejays' baseball program. He has also spent the past three years working with Gators Baseball Academy in Wentzville, Missouri, gaining additional experience in player instruction and development.

Hovey began his collegiate playing career at Missouri State University before continuing at Jefferson College and completing his career at Creighton University. He earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Creighton.

Following his collegiate career, Hovey signed with the Kansas City Royals organization in 2021. He spent parts of five seasons playing professional baseball, competing in the American Association, Pioneer League and Frontier League.
