Omlid Throws Complete-Game Shutout in Game One Versus UMSL

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Tyler Omlid threw a complete-game shutout to lead Maryville to a 3-0 victory in the first game of a Great Lakes Valley Conference twinbill at Weber Field. Saints fielding miscues led to nine unearned runs as the Tritons bounced back to earn a split with an 11-4 win in game two.
 
Nick Little walked to open the bottom of the third and moved to second when Kaleb Depew earned a free pass, too. Colby White put down a sac bunt to move both runners up a base. Jared Green launched a sac fly to right as Little sprinted home with the only run Omlid would need. The Saints doubled their lead in the sixth when Kyle Kinyon singled in Mike Wilkinson with the second run. An UMSL fielding error allowed Bob Miller to come around and score the final run of the game. Omlid only allowed two runners to reach scoring position, and only one Triton got to third base in the game. He recorded six strikeouts, surrendered only six hits and did not allow a walk in going the distance for the Saints.
 
In the second game, the Tritons took advantage of errors to open both the second and third innings to drive in six unearned runs. The Saints did the same after an UMSL error as Nick Stading doubled down the leftfield line to score Miller and Wilkinson as the Saints closed to 6-2. In the fifth, yet another fielding miscue handed two more runs to UMSL. Wilkinson answered with an RBI single back up the middle to drive in Depew with Maryville’s third run. The Saints tacked on another run in the sixth as they scored on a double play but the Tritons kept Maryville at bay. Colby White led the Saints with three hits.
 
The Saints move their record to 9-11 overall, 8-4 in the GLVC. The Tritons even their slate at 10-10 overall, 7-5 in the league. Maryville hosts Missouri S&T in another GLVC series Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for noon.
