Box Score After winning six straight elimination games, the magical run by the Maryville baseball team finally came to an end as the Saints were eliminated from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament 4-3 by top-seed Drury Saturday evening at Bosse Field in Evansville, Ind. The Saints season comes to an end with a 22-24 record. The Panthers, who are ranked No. 21 in NCAA Division II, improve to 39-14 on the season and advance to the GLVC Championship game Sunday.
The Panthers struck for two runs in the top of the first when Payton Reed doubled in a pair. The Saints got runners in scoring position in the first two innings but were unable to push across a run. Reed struck again for Drury in the third inning as he singled in another run for a 3-0 Panthers cushion and added another single run in the fifth. The Saints had their best offensive push in the bottom of the seventh.
Kyle Kinyon walked, and
Bob Miller reached on a Drury miscue. After a fielder’s choice put runners at the corners,
Jared Green smashed a ball to second base which was misplayed for an RBI as the Saints got on the scoreboard 4-1. Maryville eventually loaded the bases, but Drury reliever Evan Kuo got the strikeout to end the Saints threat.

Colby White reached on a error to open the eighth inning,
Corey Gall, who had three of Maryville’s four hits in the game, delivered a RBI double with a double to deep center to pull the Saints to 4-2. Gall moved to third on a groundout, and he scampered home on a wild pitch as the Saints inched closer to 4-3. Maryville threatened again in the ninth inning.
Colby White reached on a fielder’s choice, took second on a passed ball and reached third base in a wild pitch. Gall drew a walk to extend the game, but Drury closer Laurent Zenoni got the final out of the game as the Panthers held the Saints off.
