Playing in its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener, the Maryville women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Truman State. The game was the third straight on the road for the Saints.

The Saints had the first good scoring chance of the game as
Amanda Wiechens' shot in the seventh minute was saved by Truman keeper Emily Bozdeck. The sequence was repeated in the 16th minute as the Saints were kept off the scoreboard. TSU had its best early scoring chance in the 25th minute but
Mandy Browning came up with the save. Truman broke through for a goal at the 31:53 mark to take the lead on Suzanne Pelley's score. The Saints closed the first half with a two-shot flurry but TSU retained the 1-0 edge.

Truman had three scoring chances early in the second half but Browning posted the save to keep the Saints within one. TSU finally doubled its lead at 68:14 on a goal by Sally Smith.
Shannon Foley had two shots on goal in the waning minutes but Truman held on for the win in its first-ever GLVC contest.

Browning made nine saves in the game for the Saints who slip to 0-3 overall, 0-1 in the GLVC. Truman improves to 1-1-1 overall, 1-0 in the league. Maryville hosts its home opener Sunday as Quincy visits.
