Quincy's Erin Mennemeyer hit a jumper with 6.2 seconds left to push the Hawks past Maryville 73-71 Thursday night in a tightly-contested Great Lakes Valley Conference at Moloney Arena. The Saints had a shot to tie at the buzzer but the potential game-tying jumper misfired as the No. 18 ranked Hawks escaped.

With two minutes to play, Shelby Miller hit two free throws to put the Saints ahead 69-66. Felisha Loggins tied the game with a 3-pointer at the 1:51 mark. The Saints missed on their next possession, and Quincy went ahead on two free throws by Loggins. With 1:03 left to play, Alex Hillyer tied the game at 71-71. The Hawks had a shot, missed but Lucy Cramsey grabbed the miss. After a QU timeout, Mennemeyer got the ball on the wing and her shot was true for a 73-71 lead. The Saints pushed the ball up the right sideline but Miller's jumper could not force overtime.

Hillyer hit 8-of-13 shots en route to 23 points to lead the Saints. Miller hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points to move into the top 10 in career scoring at Maryville with 895 points. Erica Lorton added 11 points and tied for the team high with six rebounds. Loggins and Carly Beebe led Quincy (12-2 overall, 5-1 GLVC) with 12 points apiece.

The Saints close out a four-game conference homestand Saturday with a 1 p.m. tilt versus Truman State.
