Indianapolis - The Maryville women's soccer team had its two-game Great Lakes Valley Conference win streak end as Indianapolis used an early goal and held on for a 1-0 win over the Saints Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis.

On the first shot on goal of the game, Stacey Klene scored off a corner kick as the Greyhounds struck in the 14th minute of play.
Shannon Foley had Maryville's first shot on target but her attempt was saved by UIndy keeper Megan Fee. The hosts made three more bids for scores as Saints goalie
Bailey Doerflinger kept Maryville within one score.

The Saints surged out of the gate after halftime and
Katy Rood and
Nadia Abu-Douleh had back-to-back shots saved. Midway through the second half, Foley nearly scored on a header in an attempt to tie the game. The Greyhounds pressed to extend their lead but Doerflinger kept the Saints in the game.
Danielle Schmitz and
Rachel Wiesehan had Maryville's best chances late but their shots were saved as the Greyhounds held off the Maryville charge.

The end of the Saints winning streak drops them to 5-6-3 overall, 4-6-2 in the GLVC. Indianapolis improves to 4-7-4, 3-5-4 in the league. The Saints are next in action Friday as they play at Quincy. Â
