Oakland City, Ind. - The Maryville volleyball team won its fifth straight contest as it downed host Oakland City in five sets. The Saints defeated the Oaks 24-26, 25-20, 25-23, 20-25, 15-9. The Saints five-match winning streak is the longest since the 2008 squad also won five-in-a-row from Sept. 20, 2008, through Sept. 30, 2008. The Saints are now 14-8 overall, while Oakland City is 11-7.
Maddie Timmermann led four Saints in double-figure kills with 20 and smashed at a .531 clip to go along with five blocks. Ashley Selman had 14 kills and seven blocks, while Grace Balcerak added 13 kills. Laura Welling was credited with 10 kills and added seven digs. Taryn Trubich had 35 assists, while Ali Lampen dug 47 balls to lead the defensive efforts. The Saints hit .307 as a team.
Maryville is next in action Saturday, Oct. 25, as it travels to Saint Joseph's.
