Rolla, Mo. - The Maryville women's soccer team made the trip to Missouri S&T looking to stay unbeaten on the road in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. However, the host Miners used a late score to hand the Saints a 1-0 defeat in Rolla, Mo., Sunday afternoon.

Dani Schmitz nearly put the Saints ahead in the 12thth minute of action with a shot on goal but her attempt was saved by Miners' keeper Kaitlyn Deister. Midway through the first half,
Amanda Wiechens had a header stopped. About 30 minutes in, the Miners had their first strong scoring attempt before Saints goalie
Madison Buelow came up with the save. In the closing minutes of the half, Wiechens had another header saved on the line.

In the second half, the Saints again tested the Miners' defense as Wiechens had two blasts on goal, and
Shannon Foley had a shot saved. However, at the 74:20 mark, the Miners strung together passes leading to a score by Julie Bride. The Saints looked to draw level in the final 15 minutes but were unable to dent the back of the Missouri S&T net. The Saints had six shots on goal as Deister stopped each attempt to preserve the shutout.

The Saints are now 3-4-3 overall, 2-4-2 in the GLVC. The Miners improve to 4-6 overall, 4-4 in the conference.
