Kirksville, Mo. - The Maryville volleyball team was hoping to send No. 24 Truman State to its second consecutive loss but the Bulldogs held off a determined Saints team in three sets. TSU edged Maryville 25-14, 25-23, 25-22.

Truman scored the first four points of the match but after a TSU error,
Hana Michael put down a kill. The Bulldogs answered with a 4-0 run and eventually stretched their lead out to 10 points.
Grace Balcerak notched back-to-back kills to pull the Saints to within eight until TSU closed out the first set.

Set two was tied at 10-10 after an
Ashley Selman kill but Truman tallied six straight points. The Saints scored two straight points to stay close. Still down 19-13, the Saints went on a 7-0 burst to charge into the lead.
Maddie Timmermann started the run with a kill, and
Jordan McKinley followed with a termination. To close out the run, McKinley had a kill, and Timmermann's ace put the Saints on top 20-19. The score was tied at 22-all before Laura Welling's kill handed the Saints a 23-22 advantage. However, the Bulldogs scored the final three points to rally for the win.

After Truman scored the first point of the third set, the Saints answered with four consecutive points. Timmermann had a kill and she teamed with McKinley on a block as Maryville led 4-1. The Saints were still up 5-4 before Truman went up 10-5. The Saints were still down 19-13 and made one late charge. Timmermann had a kill, and Selman and McKinley recorded a block. After a Selman finish, TSU's hitting error pulled Maryville to within 19-17. The teams traded points, and Maryville got as close as 23-22 on a Balcerak kill. Truman tallied the final two points to hold on for the victory.

Selman led the Saints with nine kills and hit .348 in the match. Balcerak and Timmermann both finished with six kills.
Ali Lampen recorded a match-high 23 digs. Allie Brak and Abby Heise led Truman (24-3, 16-1 GLVC) with eight kills apiece. The Saints (15-13 overall, 6-11 GLVC) close out the season Saturday in a match at Quincy.
