Dr. Lombardi / Maryvillle Dual results in PDF
St. Louis - In the first Dr. Lombardi / Maryville Wrestling Duals, the No. 16 ranked Saints went 2-1 on the day. Maryville downed King College 35-3, toppled No. 13 Indianapolis by a 23-13 score before No. 1 Notre Dame College moved past the Saints 24-9 in the finale.
"We were pleased with our performance today," Saints head coach Mike Denney said. "The quality competition we had today was great preparation for our Regional Tournament. We felt the first Dr. Mark Lombardi/Maryville Duals was a success, and we were proud of how our guys competed."

In the opener against King, the Saints dominated in winning nine of the 10 matches.
Dimitri Willis had a pin at the 2:08 mark to take the 165 classification.
Nick Burghardt recorded a 16-0 tech fall at 184.
Brandon Oshiro started the day at 125 with a 13-5 major decision, and
Keygan Foster followed with another major decision 8-0 at 133. Zab Wahle notched a 13-2 major decision at 174 as the Saints romped to the win.

The second match pitted the Saints against Indianapolis, which is tied for No. 13 in the latest NWCA poll. The Saints won the third three matches and went on to post a 23-13 victory. Oshiro had a 16-0 tech fall to get the Saints started at 125. After a 9-2 Foster win at 133, the Maryville momentum picked up with a
Darick Lapaglia pin at the 2:19 mark for a 14-0 Saints lead. UIndy won its first match before
Greg Hegarty got the Saints back on track with a win at 157. Later, Wahle and Burghardt sealed the Saints win with back-to-back triumphs at 174 and 184.

In the final contest against top-ranked Notre Dame College, the Saints tried to mount a late rally but the Falcons proved worthy of their No. 1 ranking 24-9. The Saints battled but were narrowly edged out in the early contests. Willis finally scored the first win for Maryville with a 5-2 score at 165, and Burghardt recorded the second win with a 7-3 margin at 184. However, the Saints comeback hopes were handed a setback due to an injury forfeit. Donnell Walker won a marathon match at heavyweight as he recorded a take down in the second overtime tiebreaker for a 5-3 victory to close out the match.
