Quincy, Ill.
- Junior Shelby Miller hit four free throws in the final minute as the Maryville women's basketball team toppled No. 10 Quincy 73-71. The Lady Hawks had a 3-pointer at the buzzer miss as the Saints picked up a crucial league victory. The win was the first for the Saints over a nationally-ranked team since beating No. 25 Northern Kentucky during the 2012 GLVC Tournament.

After the score was tied at 37-37 at halftime, Erica Lorton hit a free throw and Rita Flynn sank a 3-pointer as the Saints took a 43-39 lead early in the second half. Alex Hillyer scored four straight points as Maryville stretched its edge to 47-41 with just under 14 minutes to play. Quincy jumped back and eventually tied the game at 54-all. The Saints surged ahead fueled by nine consecutive points.

Jordynn Martin converted a layup to put the Saints ahead, and Miller drilled a 3-pointer for a 59-54 edge at the 8:04 mark. Samantha Robison tacked on two from the free-throw line and Martin did the same at the line for a 63-54 cushion with 6:41 remaining in the game. Quincy finally stopped the Maryville run with one free throw to end a four-minute scoring drought. The Lady Hawks continued to close the gap and got the deficit to 63-60 before a Hillyer hoop put Maryville back up 65-60. After a Lorton free throw, Hillyer converted in the lane for a 68-62 lead with 2:43 left. However, Quincy scored six points in a row and forged a tie at 68-68 with 61 seconds to play.

Miller was fouled and hit two free throws to give the Saints a 70-68 lead with 43 ticks remaining. Quincy missed on its next trip, Lorton grabbed the rebound, and Miller hit two free throws for a 72-68 lead. Quincy's Lucy Cramsey drained a 3-pointer with five seconds to play as the Lady Hawks got to 72-71. Rita Flynn made one free throw for a two-point lead, but Quincy's 3-pointer at the buzzer misfired as the Saints held on for the upset win.

Hillyer led the Saints with 17 points, while Miller finished with 16. Lorton narrowly missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Cramsey led Quincy (21-4, 14-3) with 25 points and nine rebounds but was the only QU player in double figures.

The Saints improve to 17-10, 10-7 in the GLVC. Maryville hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis Thursday, Feb. 27, in the regular season finale. The game is #1000Saints Day as Maryville is attempting to draw 1,000 fans to the game. The women's game starts at 5:30 p.m., with the men following at 7:30 p.m.
