Kyle Uhrich's first home run and
Eric Keling's pitching, the Maryville baseball team powered to an 8-0 win in the first game of a series at Missouri S&T Friday afternoon in Rolla, Mo. The Miners bounced the Saints 10-3 in the second game of the doubleheader.
In the first game, the Saints took an early lead when
Troy Payton walked and took second on a
Brad Ridings single. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch, and Payton scored on a Miners' throwing error. Uhrich then launched a two-run homer to left center to boost the Saints to a 3-0 lead, all the offense Keling would ultimately need. With the bases loaded in the fourth, Ridings figured into the offense again as he drove in two runs with a single. Ridings struck with another RBI hit, a double in the sixth, and
Nate Steffler's single plated another run in the top of the seventh. The Saints closed out the scoring on another RBI basehit by Steffler in the ninth. Keling allowed only six hits in 7-1/3 innings of work to record his fifth win of the season. Ridings led Maryville with three RBI in the game.

Sean Murphy had a basehit. The two runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, and Uhrich delivered a single for a quick 2-0 lead. The lead was short-lived as the Miners responded with two runs in the bottom of the second, and the home team took its first lead of the day with two more tallies in the third. Maryville got a run back in the top of the fourth. Steffler doubled, and
Kyle Kinyon brought him home with an RBI single to center. The Saints eventually loaded the bases but were unable to do any further damage. The Miners put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Saints managed 10 hits in the second game.
