Box Score St. Louis -
Eric Keling blasted a two-run homer but Maryville ended up losing a 6-3 nonconference decision to McKendree Wednesday afternoon at Weber Field. The Saints close the regular season this weekend as they host Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division leader Drury for a four-game series.
The visiting Bearcats used four hits and a walk to push across three runs to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the second. In the bottom of the fourth,
Kevin Bos singled for his first Saints hit, and Keling deposited the ball over the fence in right as the Saints closed to 3-2. The Bearcats loaded the bases in the fifth, and the Saints turned a double play, but a run still came home for a 4-2 cushion.
The Saints answered in the home half of the fifth.
Mike Wilkinson, who was 4-for-5 on the day, tripled to right and scored on
Nick Stading's RBI grounder to short as the Saints again closed the gap to one run. The Saints were unable to tie the game, and McKendree (18-28) tacked on solo runs in the sixth and eighth to hold off the home team in the final innings.
The Saints stand at 19-26 on the season after their final nonconference game of the year.
