Box Score 2 St. Louis, Mo. - The Maryville baseball team faced an uphill climb to earn a bid to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament as they needed two wins against West Division leader Drury. However, the Panthers proved worthy of their No. 27 ranking in downing the Saints 11-6 and 11-2 at Weber Field.

After Drury scored one run in the top of the second, the Saints answered with two tallies in the home half.
Kyle Kinyon worked a walk, took second on a wild pitch and scored on
Tyler Omlid's RBI double. A
Corey Gall singled moved Omlid up a base, and the play proved to be important as he scored on
Nate Steffler's sac bunt up the line towards first for a 2-1 run. However, the Panthers exploded for six runs in the top of the third. The Saints got one run back in the fifth when
Garrett Jones scored on
Brad Ridings' double to right. Maryville made a late push with three runs in the bottom of the ninth, but the Panthers closed out the contest.

In game two, the Saints jumped on top with two runs in their first. Jones singled to leadoff, and
Sean Murphy reached on catcher's interference. Kinyon pushed the Saints ahead as he dropped in an RBI single to left to plate Jones. Omlid drove an RBI single to nearly the same spot to bring home Murphy for a 2-0 lead. Drury answered with back-to-back solo homers by Luke Tewes and Payton Reed. In the third, Reed hit a sac fly to put the Panthers (35-11, 26-6 GLVC) ahead 3-2 for all the offense the visitors would need. Drury used a big fourth inning with seven runs to seal the game.

The Saints slip to 19-28 overall, 14-20 in the GLVC. Maryville will honor nine seniors prior to Sunday's doubleheader as the Saints close out the regular season against the Panthers.
