Box Score Romeoville, Ill. – The Maryville volleyball squad looked for its first road victory of the season but Lewis held the Saints off in posting a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon in Romeoville, Ill. The Flyers won by the set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17. The Saints stand at 5-5 overall, 1-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Lewis improves to 7-2, 3-1 in the GLVC.

The Flyers held an 8-4 lead to open the match before the Saints rallied with three straight points.
Maddie Timmermann started the run with a kill, and
Jordan McKinley followed with another kills. A Lewis hitting error pulled the Saints to 8-7 before the Flyers answered with three consecutive points and six of the next seven. The Saints were unable to trim the deficit to less than five as the Flyers took the first set.

Hana Michael kill tied set two at 6-6 until Lewis scored two straight. A kill by
Ashley Selman drew Maryville back to 9-8. Lewis led 11-9 and tallied six of the next eight points to slowly pull away to take the second set for a 2-1 lead.

Set three was tied at 9-all before the Saints reeled off five straight points to surge ahead. After a Lewis service error,
Hannah Seitter tipped in a ball, and Selman notched a kill.
Ali Lampen served up an ace, and a solo block by Selman built the Saints a 14-9 lead. A Michael kill and a Lewis ball handling error gave the Saints their biggest lead of the match at 17-11. The Flyers chipped away at the Maryville advantage and closed to two points, the last at 23-21. A Selman kill gave the Saints set point, and Maryville ended set three ahead 25-22.

Laura Welling had a kill to pull the Saints to 5-4 until the Flyers scored three straight points. Timmermann ended the Lewis run before the Flyers stretched the lead back out to 14-6. The Saints made one more charge after finding themselves down 15-8. Michael posted another kill and two straight miscues by Lewis pulled the Saints to 15-11. The Flyers steadied the lead with three straight points and held on to down Maryville in the fourth set.

Selman topped the Saints with 15 kills and hit .448 while posting three blocks. Lampen dug 25 balls, while
Abby Luebbers added 10 digs.
Taryn Trubich led Maryville with 19 assists.
