Maryville got hot shooting to race out to an early lead and was able to hang on late in the game to upset No. 21 Lewis 73-62 on the road at Neil Carey Arena in Romoeville, Ill. The win was the first time that the Saints have beaten a top 25 team on the road and is also the third straight season that Maryville has knocked off a ranked foe. The victory, coupled with UMSL's loss at UW-Parkside put the Saints into a tie a top the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division.

Senior Armon Provo led the way in the early going of the affair by hitting back-to-back triples from the left wing to help the Saints run out to a 19-5 lead with 15:35 to go in the half. Max Mischkulnig scored six of his eight points on the night in the time frame to give Maryville the lead. The Flyers would not go away that easly as they would go on a 29-15 run over the next fourteen minutes to tie the Saints right before half at 34-34. But Trae Pemberton hit a triple from the right corner to give Maryville a 37-34 lead going into the half. The Saints ended the first half shooting 13-of-25 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line.

The Saints (8-5, 3-1 GLVC) came out in the second half and continued to shoot the ball well. Lewis cut the lead early in the second half to 40-38 on a Ryan Jackson lay-up at the 18:05 mark of the half. Maryville would turn the tables and go on a 12-0 run over the next three minutes and 52 seconds to take a 52-38 lead, and they never looked back.

Provo ended the day with 24 points, while grabbing five rebounds and handing out six assists. Pemberton added 17 markers while Josh Montague continued his solid play off the bench with 13 points and five boards. Jackson paced Lewis (10-3,  2-2 GLVC) 15 points and a team high 7 rebounds while Jeff Jarosz and Capel Henshaw each hit for 12 points a piece.
