Max Mischkulnig tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer to boost Maryville past Quincy 77-76 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference thriller at Moloney Arena Thursday night. The Saints were down by one when Josh Montague launched a 3-pointer from the left corner. The ball bounced long off the rim, and Mischkulnig soared in traffic and redirected the ball into the net as the buzzer sounded.

After leading for most of the first half, the Saints found themselves down 43-41 at the break. The Hawks led 52-49 before the Saints charged back ahead with six straight points.
Trae Pemberton scored on a layup, and Mischkulnig also scored inside to put the Saints ahead 53-52.
Marvin Grant-Clark's bucket was good for a 55-52 lead. The Saints were still up 61-57 on a
Forrester Sims 3-pointer, but the Hawks scored five straight to take a one-point lead 62-61 with 5:46 to play.

Pemberton sandwiched two 3-pointers around one free throw by QU's Thomas Jackson for a 67-63 advantage with 4:47 to go. Quincy nailed back-to-back treys to surge back into the lead. The game went back and forth as the teams both scored on their next three possessions.

Pemberton tied the game 73-73 in the final minute with a layup before Herm Senor made two free throws with 46 ticks left for a two-point Quincy lead. The Saints turned the ball over but Nate Des Jardins made one free throw for a 76-73 QU advantage. Pemberton cut the gap to 76-75 with two free throws. The Saints fouled Quincy but the Hawks missed two free throws with 12.7 seconds left to play. The Saints pushed the ball up the left side of the court, and Montague attempted the trey from the left wing. After the shot bounced off the rim, Mischkulnig flicked the ball high off the backboard, and the ball dropped through the net as the buzzer sounded.

Pemberton tied his career high with 26 points and hit 6-of-9 shots from 3-point range while grabbing six rebounds. Mischkulnig made 8-of-11 shots from the field and finished with 20 points. Jackson led five Quincy players in double figures (7-9, 1-5 GLVC) with 17 points.

The Saints improve to 9-5 overall and have started 4-1 in the GLVC for the first time since joining the league in 2009-10. Maryville heads on the road to take on Truman State Saturday in Kirksville, Mo.
