Shelby Miller and
Jordynn Martin combined to score 45 points to guide the Maryville women's basketball team to an 84-70 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over visiting Illinois Springfield. The Saints improve to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. Maryville has won six straight games for the first time since joining the Division II ranks.

The Saints roared out to a quick start by scoring the first 10 points of the contest. Miller and
Jade Rogers opened the scoring with consecutive 3-pointers. After a layup by Martin, Miller converted a fast break feed from Martin for a 10-0 led just 1:35 into the game. The Prairie Stars gathered themselves and slowly cut into the Saints cushion. The score was tied at 17-17 before Maryville went on a 7-0 run.
Alex Hillyer hit a long jumper, and
Carly Frala nailed a wing 3-pointer.
Alex Wolf scored inside for a 24-17 edge. The Saints were still up 35-31 before scoring the final six points of the game for a 41-31 lead.

Maryville's margin stood at 48-41 early in the second half until the Saints went on a 15-4 burst. Miller sparked the run with a triple, and
Ali Ringering completed a three-point play. After UIS scored a bucket, Ringering tallied again, and Martin hit a long jumper. The Prairie Stars made a layup before Miller hit a short shot and followed with a 3-pointer and a 63-45 lead, their largest of the day, at the 13:27 mark. Maryville did not let UIS get any closer than 13 points and cruised to the victory. The Saints drilled 11 3-pointers on the day.

Miller hit four 3-pointers and finished with 23 points while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Martin converted 8-of-12 from the field en route to a career-high 22 points. She also knocked down a career-best five 3-pointers on the day. Rogers added 11 points and eight rebounds. Syerra Cunningham recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Prairie Stars (4-6 overall, 0-2 GLVC).

The Saints take to the road and face Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday in Kenosha, Wis.
