Taryn Trubich recorded a triple-double with 12 kills, 31 assists and 10 digs but could not prevent the Maryville volleyball team from a 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19 triumph by Truman State.
Trubich's triple-double is the first by a Maryville player since Nicole Raess notched 11 kills, 39 assists and 11 digs Oct. 16, 1996. The Lady Dogs took the first two sets before the Saints won set three. Tied at 22-22 all,
Maddie Timmermann started a closing rush for Maryville with a kill. She then combined with
Hana Michael on a block to get the Saints to set point. Trubich then drilled a kill as the Saints extended the match with a 25-22 win.
Set four was close with Truman up by one before the hosts scored four straight and eight of the next nine points to pull out to a big lead. Maryville made a late rally with four consecutive points and cut the gap to 21-17 but Truman kept the Saints at bay.
Timmermann hit .462 for the match and did not have an error as she tied Trubich for the team lead with 12 kills. Michael had a double-double on 10 kills and 13 digs.
Ali Lampen finished with a match-high 27 digs.
The Saints are now 6-12 overall, 1-8 in the league. Truman State improves its mark to 11-6 overall, 6-3 in the GLVC.
