Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Aurora, Ill.

Saints Win All Three Matches at Crossover Tournament

For the first time this season, the Maryville volleyball stretched a victory streak to three as it won all three matches at the Mizuno Crossover Tournament held in Aurora, Ill. The Saints defeated Lake Erie 3-1 to open the tourney, then swept Ursuline and Ohio Dominican, respectively, to close action Saturday.

Against Lake Erie, four Saints reached double figures in kills led by Maddie Timmermann, who pounded down 16 kills and hit .379 while serving three aces to tie her season high. Laura Welling checked in with 13 kills, while Hana Michael recorded 12 kills and nine digs. Ashley Selman contributed 11 kills and added in a season-high six blocks. Taryn Trubich handed out a season-best 52 assists. Ali Lampen notched a match-high 22 digs, and Taylor Luebbers came up with 13 digs. Set scores were 25-18, 25-18, 22-25, 29-27.

In the tournament's second contest, the Saints recorded a season best hitting percentage of .360 to down Ursuline College 25-20, 25-18, 25-11. Timmermann and Michael paced the attack with 10 kills apiece. Timmermann mashed at a .474 clip to lead the offense. Michael posted a .333 hitting percentage and completed a double-double with 20 digs, her second highest total of the season. Trubich finished with 32 assists, five kills and four digs. Lampen recorded 16 digs.

In the final match of the tournament, the Saints gained a measure of revenge by sweeping Ohio Dominican 25-19, 26-24, 25-19. ODU edged Maryville in five sets a month ago in a tournament hosted by Lewis. Timmermann again was the key cog on the offensive front as she hammered 13 kills on a .522 hitting percentage. Welling chipped in 12 kills, while Michael had a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs. Trubich distributed 32 assists, while Lampen notched 23 kills. Luebbers served three aces and recorded 11 digs.

The Saints improve to 9-12 on the season. Maryville is back in action at home as it hosts Rockhurst Friday, Oct. 23.
