After falling behind in the first half, the Maryville women's soccer team would have happily played its fourth straight overtime game. However, the Saints were unable to draw level as Illinois Springfield used a goal in the 34th minute and held on for a 1-0 win.

UIS nearly scored on the opening possession but Saints goalie
Bailey Doerflinger came up with the save.
Shannon Foley had Maryville's first shot on goal but her attempt was also turned aside. A few minutes later on a corner kick, Foley put another attempt on target but it was also saved.
Hana McGinis took over the Saints attack and put three shots toward the UIS net but was stopped, including a ringing attempt off the crossbar. UIS' Nikki Auble converted on a free kick outside the penalty area to give the Prairie Stars the only score of the game.

In the second half,
Allison Verville and
Nadia Abu-Douleh both had shots on target saved. As the Saints looked to pull back even, Doerflinger made three saves to keep the visitors within one score.
Ashley Pogue and
Amanda Wiechens had shots late in the game but neither found the mark as UIS goalie Paige Polonus finished the night with seven saves. Saints keeper Doerflinger also made seven saves on the night to tie her season high.

The Saints slide to 5-5-3 overall, 4-4-3 in the GLVC. Illinois Springfield improves to 5-8-1, 4-6-1 in the conference. Maryville closes out a four-game road trip with a game Sunday at McKendree.
