In a match in which neither team had a player reach double figures in kills, the Maryville volleyball team dropped the city battle to the University of Missouri-St. Louis in three straight sets. Playing in their own Mark Twain Building, the Tritons won by set scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-18 to take the Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.
 
Seniors Laura Welling and Hana Michael led Maryville with six kills apiece. Zoe Zeiter added five kills and two blocks, while Maddie Timmermann chipped in four kills and two blocks. Ali Lampen topped three Saints in double-figure kills with a match-best 22. Michael finished with 11, and Taylor Luebbers provided a spark with 10 digs and three digs. The Tritons (7-10, 3-4 GLVC) had a balanced attack but used a strong defense that posted 11 team blocks to slow down the Saints attack.
 
The Saints are now 6-10 overall, 1-6 in the GLVC. Maryville continues its three-match road swing with a contest at Quincy Friday evening.
