Ashley Selman and Laura Welling both finished with 14 kills but Southern Indiana handled the Maryville volleyball team in four sets. The Screaming Eagles won by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 31-29, 25-14. The Saints are back in action Saturday as they play at Bellarmine.
 
Selman recorded 14 kills while hitting .407 in the match along with five blocks. Welling chipped in two blocks to go along with her 14 kills. Maddie Timmermann recorded 12 kills and four blocks. Taryn Trubich handed out 40 assists and moved over the 2,500 mark in her career. Ali Lampen recorded a match-high 27 digs and has moved to within 74 digs of becoming the first Saint to reach 2,000 career digs.

After dropping the first set, the Saints played their best set in winning the second. Down 14-12, the Saints charged ahead with a 5-0 run. Zoe Zeiter had a kill to start the run, and Timmermann and Welling followed with the same. After a USI error, Timmermann's kill was good for a 17-14 lead. The Saints kept a narrow lead and closed out the set at 25-23.
 
The Saints trailed 23-21 in set three before scoring three in a row to earn a set point. USI score the next point, and the teams traded scores until the Saints were down 29-28. Selman saved one set point with a kill before the Screaming Eagles tallied two straight to win it 31-29. In the fourth set, Timmermann finished a sequence to draw the Saints to within 7-5 but USI reeled off seven straight to take control. Erica Oberbroeckling led USI (18-9, 7-7) with 25 kills.
 
The Saints are now 11-16 overall, 3-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
