Wolf's Double-Double Leads Saints Rally Over Holy Names 70-55

The Maryville women's basketball team scored 33 points in the fourth quarter to rally and post a 70-55 victory at Holy Names College in Oakland, Calif., Saturday afternoon. The Saints used a 26-0 run that covered the end of the third quarter and ran into the fourth for the decisive burst.
 
The Saints scored the first four points of the game after a basket by Alex Hillyer and two free throws from Ali Ringering. The Saints kept the lead and took a 16-11 edge after a jumper by Stephanie Sherwood. Maryville was till up 20-14 after a Hillyer jumper but Holy Names scored 12 straight to grab the lead.
 
Holy Names stretched its lead to as much as 40-26 late in the third quarter before the Saints mounted a huge rally. Alex Wolf scored inside for a three-point play and followed with a layup. Ellen Foster scored on a layup as the Saints pulled to 40-33. Holy Names went up 44-33 but Ringering made two free throws, and Kailyn Rozell scored a bucket for a 44-37 deficit at halftime.
 
In the fourth quarter, Sherwood and Rozell hit back-to-back 3-pointers. Sherwood then knocked in a jumper to give the Saints a 45-44 lead with 8:41 to play. Foster then scored six straight points as the Saints stretched the advantage out. Rozell nailed consecutive triples as the Saints went up 57-44 at the 6:23 mark. A Wolf layup give the Saints their biggest lead of the day at 59-44 as Maryville cruised to the triumph.
 
Wolf recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Saints (6-3). Kozell came off the bench to score 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Foster had 12 points. Sherwood finished with 10. Jeana Magana finished with 20 points, while Tatiana Howard grabbed 16 rebounds to lead Holy Names (3-7).
 
The game was the first in a two-game swing of the Bay Area. Maryville (6-3) plays at Sonoma State Sunday.
