Bellarmine boxscore in PDFMaryville returned home from a four-game road swing to face the third-ranked team in the country, Bellarmine, but fell to the Knights 83-66 at Moloney Arena on Thursday night.

The Saints (10-13, 5-9 GLVC) would keep things interesting in the first stanza as the two teams would go toe-to-toe over the first with
Armon Provo hitting a jumper to tie the game at 17-17 with 11:33 remaining in the first half. The Knights would then start a 7-0 run over the next 4 minutes and 5 seconds to take the lead 24-27, but the Saints would continue to battle and keep the game close as
Derek Deters would hit a triple to cut the Bellarmine lead to 28-27 with just under four minutes remaining in the half. But the Knights would extend the lead, powered by an 11-2 outburst, to give Bellarmine a 39-29 advantage with a minute remaining and take a 41-34 lead into the halftime lockerroom.

Maryville would keep pace with the Knights at the beginning of the second half as
Trae Pemberton would nail a lay-up to cut the Knight lead to 46-42 with 13:27 left in the contest. That would be as close as the Saints would get as Bellarmine would then get the long range jumper from Chris Whitehead that would ignite a 19-7 run to put the Knights ahead for good at 65-49 with 8:20 to go to seal the road win.

Maryville would be led by Pemberton with 20 points on the night, while Provo added 12 markers on the night and freshman
Evan Booker chipping in with 10 points. Booker also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds in the losing cause with Provo and Deters dishing out four assists apiece.

Bellarmine put five players in double figures with Whitehead and Josh Dersken each putting in 19 points with Jake Thelan and Josh Sewell each adding 12 markers apiece and Rusty Troutman putting in 10 points on the night for the Knights (21-3, 13-1 GLVC). Whitehead would also end the night handling out 6 assists to his teammates.

Maryville continues its three-game home stand on Saturday afternoon with a date against GLVC Eastern Division rival Southern Indiana at 3 p.m.
