Despite pounding out a season-high 17 hits, including five from leadoff batter
Sean Murphy, the Maryville baseball team lost a high-scoring13-8 tilt in the first game of its series at Drury. The teams have adjusted the schedule due to the forecast and will play just one game Saturday.

Murphy had a leadoff single to start the game, took second on
Kaleb Depew's walk, and the duo moved up a base after
Yoonjae Nam's single.
Tyler Omlid delivered the bases-loaded RBI single to give the Saints an early 1-0 lead. However, Drury answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to jump ahead.

Daniel Barnett singled to start the second and moved into scoring position after
Nate Steffler put down a sac bunt. Murphy laced a single to center and the Drury defense misplayed the ball allowing Barnet to touch home as the Saints closed to 4-2. The Panthers tack on a run in the bottom of the fourth before the Saints answered with two tallies in the top of the fifth. Depew singled and swiped second. After a
Mitch Carriger walk, Nam singled and Depew scored on a DU error. Omlid then plated his second run of the game with an RBI grounder as the Saints closed to 5-4.

The Panthers rebuilt their lead with four runs, and the Saints pushed across a run in the seventh when Nam's single scored Murphy after his fourth hit of the game. However, Drury had its third inning of scoring four runs when they did so in the bottom of the eighth. The Saints made a late push as
Mike Wilkinson had a single with the bases loaded, and Murphy drove home two more runs to close out the scoring.

Murphy went 5-for-6, scored twice and drove in two runs, while Nam notched four hits to lead the Saints (9-13 overall, 2-7 Great Lakes Valley Conference). Drury ups its record to 9-8-1 overall, 5-3-1 in the league.
