Nam and Ridings Finish with Three RBIs Each in 9-3 Win at Drury

Fueled by three RBIs apiece by Yoonjae Nam and Brad Ridings, the Maryville baseball team recorded a triumph at Drury 9-3 in the lone game played Saturday. The squads will close out the four-game series with a doubleheader Sunday starting at 11 a.m.

The Saints struck in the top of the first when Kaleb Depew had a leadoff double and reached third on a passed ball. Nam put in a ball in play that the DU defense turned into an error for the first run of the game. The Panthers tied the game in the bottom of the first but the Saints pulled back into the lead with four runs in the third. Depew walked, later reached second and scored on Ridings' RBI single, who took second on the throw. The heady baserunning turned into another run when he advanced to third on a wild pitch. Nam singled through the left side of the DU infield to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. Nam stole second and dashed home on Mike Wilkinson's RBI single. Dalton Schumer drilled a double to left to give the Saints a 5-1 lead.

Maryville broke the game open in the top of the fourth with three more runs. Depew reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on Tyler Catlett's basehit. Ridings drove in another run, and later, Nam's single to left sent home two more runners. The Saints finished the scoring with one run in the ninth. Depew singled, and Catlett followed with a hit. The duo moved up a base on a passed ball, and Ridings again delivered an RBI single.

The offense was plenty for Saints starter Steven Reynolds who went eight innings and surrendered just five hits and three runs. The victory was his second on the year and helped the Saints up their record to 10-13, 3-7 in the GLVC. The Panthers fall to 9-9-1 overall, 5-4-1 in the conference.
