The Maryville baseball team hosted Hillsdale College for its 2015 home opener and earned a split of a doubleheader. The Saints took game one 10-7 while the Chargers earned a split with a 15-2 win in the second tilt. The teams will play another doubleheader Sunday starting at Noon to close out the series.

The Saints struck for four runs in the first inning.
Kaleb Depew doubled in the game's first run, and
Mitch Carriger singled in a pair of tallies.
Dalton Schumer lashed another double as the Saints grabbed an early 4-0 lead. The Chargers pulled two runs back in the top of the second, but the Saints answered with three runs in the bottom of the second and the third.

Brad Ridings doubled home another score and later scored on a Hillsdale error. Carriger doubled to push the Saints ahead 7-2. In the third,
Garrett Jones lifted a sac fly, and Ridings again drilled an RBI double.
Mike Wilkinson had Maryville's second sacrifice of the inning to put the Saints up 10-2. Hillsdale added two runs in the fourth and made a late rally with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Josh Bonds closed out the game to record his third save of the season.
Tyler Omlid allowed only four hits over five innings to notch the victory.

In game two, the Saints again scored in the first inning.
Yoonjae Nam was hit by a pitch and stole second. He took third on a ground out, and Wilkinson drove Nam home for a 1-0 Saints lead. The neither team scored over the next two innings but Hillsdale erupted for six runs in the top of the fourth. The Chargers hung crooked numbers in the sixth and seventh to pull away. The Saints scored one run in the bottom of the sixth when
Evan Reister doubled home
Garrett Taylor but that would close out the game's scoring.

The Saints stand at 3-5 on the season, while the Chargers are now 2-5.
