In the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams, Maryville and Truman State battled to a scoreless draw in women's soccer action Friday in Kirksville, Mo. Madison Buelow came up with five saves, while Truman's Katie Mattingly turned away six Saints' shots in the 0-0 contest.
 
Hana McGinis nearly scored in the first minute as the Saints put three shots on goal in the first 45 minutes but were unable to direct a shot after halftime. Maryville notched two scoring chances in the second half but were kept out of the back of the net.
 
In overtime, McGinis again had the best scoring chance before the game continued. Buelow denied two late chances by Truman and her two saves closed out the 0-0 tie.
 
The Saints and the Bulldogs both move to 1-1-1 overall, 0-0-1 in conference. Maryville takes on No. 6 Quincy in the home opener Sunday starting at Noon.
