The Maryville volleyball team closed out a tournament in Romeoville, Ill., Saturday. The Saints lost to Ohio Dominican 25-21, 15-25, 25-18, 17-25, 5-15 before closing the tourney against St. Francis with a sweep by a 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 score. The Saints posted a 3-1 mark over the four tournament matches.

For the third straight match, the Saints went the distance but were unable to win the final set this tim3.
Maddie Timmermann led the way with 15 kills while posting a .400 hitting percentage. Hana Michal added 10 kills and completed a double-double with 15 digs.
Ashley Selman contributed nine kills, while
Laura Welling finished with eight.
Ali Lampen dug up a match-high 24 digs, and
Taryn Trubich finished with 40 kills, six digs and five kills. The Saints were unable to slow down ODU's attack as it hit .562 in the decisive set.

After playing three straight five-setters in the tournament, and four straight overall, the Saints cruised in three straight in the sweep of St. Francis. Timmermann pounded down 15 kills on 25 attempts without an error for a .600 hitting percentage. Selman added 14kills and hit .387 while Lampen topped the defense with 33 digs. Trubich directed the offense with 25 assists. Maryville held St. Francis to just a .094 hitting mark.

The Saints move their record to 4-4 this season. Maryville is next in action as it opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Indianapolis Friday, Sept. 18.
