Laura Welling and Ashley Selman both notched at least 10 kills but the Maryville volleyball team dropped a 25-18, 25-23, 25-21 Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Indianapolis. Welling led the Saints with 12 kill, while Selman added 10 kills.

The Saints led set one 8-7 after a Greyhounds' hitting error but UIndy scored four straight to take the lead. After a Hana Michael kill, UIndy had an error, and Taylor Luebbers had a shot that fell in for an 11-11 tie. However, UIndy scored four of the next five points and held on to take the first set.

Down 19-15 in set two, the Saints forged a tie with four straight points. Michel had a kill, and UIndy committed an error. After another miscue by the Greyhounds, Welling's kill tied the set at 19-19. The contest was tied three more times, the last at 23-23 before UIndy scored two straight. In the final set, the Saints were down just one at 18-17 before UIndy scored five straight points to close out the match.Ali Lampen had 13 digs to lead the Saints, and Taryn Trubich finished with 23 assists to direct the offense.

The Saints, who had won three of their last four, slip to 4-5 overall, 0-1 in the GLVC. The Greyhounds are 3-7 overall, 1-0 in the conference. Maryville plays at Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon.
