The Maryville women's soccer team exploded for its most goals since Sept. 10, 2006, during a 9-2 triumph over Oakland City in the season-opening contest played in Palm Beach Fla., Friday. The game was delayed for more than an hour due to weather.

Dani Schmitz opened the scoring with a score just 93 seconds into the contest.
Amanda Wiechens doubled Maryville's lead with a tally in the 15th minute. Freshman
Allison Verville opened her Saints account with a goal, which proved to be the game winner, just 54 seconds later.

Oakland City pulled one goal back but Schmitz answered with her second score of the game early in the second half. Wiechens tacked on her second goal before
Liz Harrington pushed across the Saints' sixth goal. Maryville closed out the game with tallies by Verville,
Hana McGinis and
Shannon Foley. The Saints peppered the Oakland City goal with 41 shots, with 20 finding the frame.

The nine goals are the most since moving up to NCAA Division II and the highest tally since posting 10 goals against Marian (Wis.). The Saints return to the pitch Sunday as they take on host team Palm Beach Atlantic University.
