Saint Joseph's boxscore in PDFMaryville men's basketball could not withstand a hot shooting Saint Joseph's team as the Pumas outscored the Saints 58-33 in the second half as Maryville fell 87-71 on the road at Scharf Fieldhouse in Rensselaer, Ind., Saturday afternoon.

The Saints took advantage of great shooting in the first half as
Max Mischkulnig and
Karson King each hit a trey and a lay-in to help give Maryville a 12 -3 advantage with 14:36 remaining in the half. The Pumas would string together a 13-4 run cumulating with a Davious Webster jumper to knot the contest up at 16 apiece with just under nine minutes left. The teams would go back and forth until the Saints finished the half half on a 14-5 outburst to take a 38-29 lead in to the half.

Maryville came out of the locker room and scored on its first two possessions to extend the lead to eleven points at 42-31, then the Pumas would come to life. Saint Joseph's balanced scoring attack and full-court pressure led the Pumas on a 19-4 run over a stretch of 5 minutes 52 seconds. Back-to-back Davone Daniels triple's gave the Pumas the lead for good at 50-46 with 12:40 remaining in the contest. The Saints cut the lead to four on a pair of occasions as
Forrester Sims drained a triple and then buried a pair of free throws on the next possession, but that was as close as Maryville would get. The Pumas went on to shoot 20-of-35 from the field for a sizzling 57 percent while Maryville was only able to make nine baskets total in the half.

Sims paced the Saints offense with 23 points while King netted 14 markers.
Saikou Jallow added 11 points and handed out five helpers. Saint Joseph's (7-7, 2-2 GLVC) put six players in double figures as CJ Hardaway finished with 22 points while Chris Nunn chipped in with 13 points.
Maryville (7-8, 1-4 GLVC) returns home to the Simon Center Thursday, Jan. 14, to take on the Lewis Flyers in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
